Coming up in The Perfect Wave professional surf photography trip series...

Since The Perfect Wave and saltmotion photography have teamed up to bring unique surf photography trips with a difference, it has been a massive success. We have hand-picked the best destinations and operators in the world, with Joel your personal photographer on hand to get that PERFECT surf photo of yourself in his unique style that has made saltmotion famous.

Surf Solomons trip to Malaita Island was a life-changing experience for everybody that participated. Fun waves, absolutely uncrowded and clean water, & pristine reefs, not to mention being greeted by locals from villages who had never seen foreigners before  - an experience that left everyone in awe. The boys forgot about the civilization for 10 days and all that was on their minds was surfing, exploring, eating fresh local food and having beers together. You can see their daily photos HERE.

July trip to Maldives onboard Cobia boat was the ultimate in surf boat charter experience. Great crew, tasty food, the best surf guide in the Maldives and fun waves every day - it ticked all boxes. It was a major highlight of this year and in the next year; we will be doing 3 similar boat trips to the Maldives. You can see their daily photos HERE.

Next up in 2011, there are 2 great trips coming up. What kind of surf experience company would we be if we didn't go to the Mentawai Islands. In September, we have organized a boat charter KM D'Bora, a beautiful 80-foot timber vessel with a great crew and onboard Western surf guide and will traverse the length and breadth of "the Ments" to get everyone their fill of waves, and then some. This trip is fully booked, but please keep an eye on our Facebook page for daily photo updates.

In December, for those who would like to travel off the beaten track, surf the breaks that have been just recently discovered and visit places that few white people have been to, Papua New Guinea offers countless options. Powerful and spacious surf charter PNG Explorer will be your home for a week, with an experienced western onboard captain, surf guide and chef, as well as other local crew. Just like Surf Solomons trip in April, this will be a great opportunity to score uncrowded perfection. With so many remote islands and reefs around Papua New Guinea (video), its surf potential has barely been touched. It is only now with the purpose-built surf charter boat, PNG Explorer, that surfers are able to access areas that have never before been surfed.

After a recent trip to PNG and catching up with the owners, Andrew and Jude, and checking out the new boat, the first word that sprang to mind was “impressive”. After many, many months of hard work and many thousands of dollars refitting their new vessel, the boat set sail on its maiden surf voyage in October 2010. Since then Andrew quotes “We are discovering new breaks every trip and so far we have discovered over 30 new breaks! Someone needs to come up with a system for naming new waves as I have run out of names for all the waves we have found over the last few months!” Andrew and Jude are very passionate about their new boat and the trip they offer, and rightly so, as they are forging new ground in surf travel and writing their names in the history books.

There are still spots available for this unique surf experience. To see more information and check out the boat - click HERE.
